Red Color Is Not Always Bad Sign
“The amount of introduced liquid strongly influence the color of urine. If you drink too little and dehydrated, the urine becomes more concentrated, denser and darker,” warns the Doctor of family medicine Arne Bajza from the Health Center. The color of the urine also can be changed if you eat blueberries, or other red fruits, because some of these ingredients are eliminated with urine when the kidneys do their job.
Keep in mind that the color should clear up the next day and if not, red color indicates on kidney disease.
As the skin may get an orange of carrots too, so can urine. But excess is excreted in urine. If, however, you notice that the color of urine changes in the fluorescent or bright orange, check the liver. Bright, almost fluorescent yellow color may be associated with the vitamins that you take every day. B vitamins, especially B12, can cause such a change in tone.
When We Need to Visit the Doctor?
If the color of urine doesn’t change, it can indicate an infection of the urinary tract. If you feel a burning sensation while urinating, and have a frequent need to urinate, and if you feel a constant pain in the lower abdomen, and you cannot urinate, go to the doctor. In very rare cases, urine can take and blue shades, mostly due to food such as colored pie.

Smell of Urine
Like color can be changed, the smell of urine can be changed too. If the smell is changed and you ate some odd food, try no eating it for 24 hours. It smells disappears, you found the cause. But, if the smell is still there, some other cause is making it. Usually, it is dehydration. Another cause can be batteries, so you need to visit the doctor.
- Transparent urine – you probably drink too much water.
- Bright colors – this is a normal color, healthy and well hydrated you are.
- Light – normal color.
- Dark yellow – normal, but drink some water.
- The color of honey – the body does not get enough water, drink some.
- Pink – have you recently ate blueberry or rhubarb? If not, you may have traces of blood in the urine. Visit a doctor.
- Color darker beers – If you drink a lot of water, but the color is still the same, go to the doctor.
- Orange – probably not drinking enough water or you ate food colored artificial colors. If not, go to the doctor.
- Green or Blue – The color of urine may be due to food or drugs, but also indications of rare genetic diseases or bacteria.
