It is not rare occasion that most of us try to find relief from pain and consolation in medicines. Especially for a headache. Headaches can be exhausting and really intensive. There are many reasons why we should not use medicines, and reach for natural remedies instead.
The recipe for the balm we provide you, is very effective without the side effects medicines induct. Is it also very easy to make, and what you will need is shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax as the base. The balm can be applied externally, one the back of the neck and on the temples.
How do these ingredients work?
Tea tree oil has powerful therapeutic properties. Can be included in treatment of burns, scrapes and abrasions. Reduction of swelling and pain (closely associated to headaches) is treated by the anti-inflammatory properties of the tea tree oil. Peppermint has been used as far back as the ancient times in Egypt. Evidence for this is peppermint oil found in the pyramids. It is a strong pain killer, relaxing muscles tension. Lavender, as you probably already know, has impressive relaxing properties. Keeping in mind that most headaches are caused by stress and tension, lavender oil is what makes the balm even better. According to European research from 2012, lavender (in form of essential oil) is a natural and effective way of treatment of migraine headaches. Eucalyptus is famous for reduction of congestion. Adding eucalyptus oil in the balm will help with pain reduction, and sinus swelling.
Recipe:
- Pepermint essential oil (20 drops)
- Tea tree oil, Lavender oil (15 drops from each)
- Eucalyptus essential oil (5 drops)
- Shea butter (3 tbsp)
- Coconut oil (3 tbsp)
- Beeswax (3 tbsp)
You’ll just need small sealable containers.
Get the containers ready at first. After that, measure the coconut oil, the beeswax and the shea butter, and microwave them all together, for around 50 seconds. Make sure they are melted and take them out, and let it chill for a bit. When the mixture is chilled out, add the essential oils (whichever ones you prefer, if not all). Store this mix in the containers you prepared. Just to harden the mix, make it look like a balm, you can put them in the fridge for a little while.
Massage the painful area with a small amount of the balm, and be a witness when the miracle happens!
